Dear New York South Al-Anon Members,
Last year, the Group Representatives of our Area Assembly voted to welcome Permanent Electronic Groups to New York South for the first time. We’re pleased to share that our procedure is now in place and we are fully ready to welcome these groups!
What are Permanent Electronic Groups?
These are groups that may or may not have started as in-person meetings, but have decided to remain permanently electronic with NO in-person component.
My Permanent Electronic Group wants to join New York South. What should we do?
Permanent Electronic Groups registering with the World Service Office (WSO) for the first time should fill out the Electronic Group Registration Form and list New York South as their Area on the form. (If the group does not list New York South, it will automatically be placed in the Global Electronic Area.)
Permanent Electronic Groups that have already registered with WSO were previously placed in the Global Electronic Area. To transfer to New York South, these groups should fill out the Electronic Group Area Transfer Request Form.
My group used to meet in person and has been temporarily electronic since the pandemic. We want to become a Permanent Electronic Group. What do we do?
If your group used to meet in person and has temporarily met electronically since the pandemic and has NO in-person component, your group should already have a WSO ID number from when the group originally registered with WSO. If your group conscience is for the group to become permanently electronic, please complete the Electronic Group Change Form.
Have more questions?
Check out the Electronic Groups Resource Page on the Area Website.
We look forward to welcoming your Permanent Electronic Group to New York South. Thank you to all the other trusted servants who have made this possible.
With gratitude,
